About Appliance Code Scout
Appliance Code Scout is an independent reference for household appliance error codes and safe first-step troubleshooting. Our primary audience is appliance owners in the United States and Canada.
What you can find here
The site is being developed as a searchable directory of appliance error codes, with information organized by brand, appliance type, and, where documented, specific model families. We are initially focusing on washers and will gradually expand to dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, and other household appliances.
How we research error codes
Our editorial approach is to consult manufacturer support materials and product manuals, identify which models a code applies to, and separate confirmed code meanings from possible causes. A code alone rarely proves that a particular component has failed.
When available, individual guides will include links to original manufacturer sources, a review date, and clear notes where meanings vary by model or market. We correct or update information when more reliable documentation becomes available.
Safety first
Our guides are informational and are not a substitute for your exact model’s instructions or qualified appliance service. Stop using an appliance if there are signs of burning, smoke, gas leaks, water near live electrical parts, or another immediate hazard. Do not attempt repairs on gas connections, high-voltage parts, sealed refrigeration systems, or other hazardous components without appropriate training.
Independence
Appliance Code Scout is not an official website of LG, Samsung, Whirlpool, GE, or any other appliance manufacturer. Brand and product names are used for identification. Manufacturer documentation remains the authoritative reference for your specific model.
Corrections and updates
If you notice an error in a guide, please include the brand, full model number, the code displayed, and a link to supporting manufacturer documentation when you contact us through the site’s published contact channels.
